You have certainly heard about LED lighting and its many advantages especially in the automotive field? You are looking for an H7 LED bulb for your car or truck but are a little lost among all the available choices? It is true that manufacturers of LED bulbs for cars and motorcycles offer an infinite range of models and different products. What about the light intensity? Ventilated / not ventilated? Keep reading and know how to choose your automotive H7 LED bulb
The advantages of changing your original bulb for an H7 LED bulb are many and varied! The main upside is obviously to gain power and light intensity to better illuminate the road at night and to be better seen by other users. But that's not it! This is also the best way to upgrade your lighting from an old-fashioned vintage yellow to a pure white just like the latest vehicles! H7 LED bulbs are mainly used to replace low and high beam lights, sometimes fog lights and it will really boost your lighting. The installation of H7 LED bulbs is normally easy since most H7 LED kits are Plug & Play which allows you to change absolutely nothing to your original connection.
Some vehicles require bulb holders to fit the H7 LED bulb into the lighthouse. This is the case for many BMW vehicles, but also Peugeot, Ford ...
If your car, truck or motorcycle is equipped with H7 bulbs, several criteria come into account when buying H7 LED bulbs.
First of all, it is necessary to know what light intensity you want. If you’re mainly a night driver, then the more powerful the better. You can find sets of H7 LED bulbs ranging from 3600 to 8000 Lumens depending on the product you choose. The higher the lumens are, the more powerful the light diffused by the H7 LED bulbs will be. 8000 Lumens (for two bulbs) is now the highest real power that can be found on the market. It's 30% more powerful than xenon! Many dealers will sell H7 LED kits with more than 10,000 Lumens per bulb, which is simply not possible and useless. It is also very unsafe because the point is not to dazzle users who share the road with you!
Then, depending on which H7 LED kit you choose, the lighting accuracy may vary. Some H7 LED bulbs are so precise that you can clearly see a separation line what is illuminated and what is not, allowing you to adjust your headlights optimally. This is also an aspect not to be overlooked when choosing your H7 LED bulbs.
A third criterion that is important is both the compactness, that is to say the small size of the bulb, coupled with its ease of installation. Some H7 LED bulbs are more compact than others and therefore use less space in the headlight. Handy, especially when the space in your car, truck or motorcycle headlight, is very small. Note however that often, the more compact the bulb is, and the less powerful it is too.
This brings us to our last criterion that often goes with the third: the cooling system used. LED components need to be cooled in one way or another. But the more powerful the LED is, and the more it tends to heat and that is why some H7 LED bulbs absolutely need to be ventilated (and therefore have a fan that can be more or less bulky) to be more powerful, brighter and more efficient.
If you have space in your headlight, it makes more sense to choose a ventilated H7 LED kit for maximum power and intensity. However, if your space is really small, the most compact bulbs will always be more efficient than your old halogen bulbs!
